Hollywood Strikes Again Hollywood Strikes Again

You Brought Them With You, Mr. President

Being as I was in Maryland on inauguration day, I was asked by a friend if I would be attending the ceremonies. My answer was that I wouldn’t be caught dead there. The reason for this is, like the President or not, the inauguration is a solemn and reverent occasion that should be treated with an air of respect and dignity, and I would have been unable to bring that attitude with me. Unfortunately, not all who attended the inauguration seemed to grasp this concept. Yet it was not members of the Nobama movement, nor Bush supporters who tarnished the occasion.

Notice the screen on the left hand side. Not only did the Obama supporters turn this honorable occasion into something not unlike a high school pep rally, they seem to be quite proud of themselves. One might notice the large grins, cheers, and laughter from these particular specimens, proving once and for all that ignorance is indeed bliss.

While I initially felt bad for Obama, my feelings changed after giving the whole scenario some thought. You see, two years ago many Obama supporters were totally uninvolved in politics. Not to be bothered with anything that required the use of multiple brain cells operating simultaneously, they were perfectly happy in their semi comatose state of political hibernation. Then, along came a man who asked these mental midgets not to become politically aware, but rather to simply try to remember the name of a candidate long enough to pull a lever. He knew that any word greater than two syllables was likely to cause such a mental log jam in what can best be described as the evolutionary beginnings of something remotely resembling a thought process in the single celled minds of these people. Thus, he kept it simple and thought better than to risk more than two words on this crowd. So hope and change became a campaign slogan.

The problem is, you can’t wake this crowd up and expect them to go right back to sleep. Hence, a few of them were able to stay focused long enough to glance away from the gps long enough to keep from crashing into their fellow idiots who were making the trek to Washington D.C. alongside them, undoubtedly headed northbound in the southbound lanes of I95. Fortunately, the other vehicles were piloted by the intelligent who were retreating from the city, perfectly willing to surrender for a few days to the army of idiots advancing on their city, and they were able to avoid a pileup.

Now perhaps it is wrong of me to be so harsh on these people, but I do have my reasons. Had President Bush just fouled out of an NBA game, this type of behavior would be perfectly acceptable. Oh sure, some would mutter “that’s not very nice”, but by and large the whole incident would go unnoticed. But it wasn’t. This was an event to be watched around the world as a ceremony to mark and honor the peaceful and lawful transfer of power from one administration to the next. The mission for Obama supporter was quite simple. Refrain from making a public ass of yourself for a couple of hours, then celebrate as you see fit. They failed.

While there have been many inaugurations preceding this one, and I am optimistic that many more will follow, there is something rather exclusive about a “first”. For those of you who are Obama supporters, I will explain further. You only get one “first”. For the first time in the history of this great nation, a black American was inaugurated and became President. Recorded for all of our posterity is the reverent occasion that marked this transition of power… accompanied by the irreverent idiots who ruined it for the man they supported.

You see, Obama supporter, something could be gained by occasionaly tuning in to what the rest of us call “the news”. It is here that you would have regularly seen Bush interacting with the public. Had you done this, you may have noticed that Bush is often publicly jeered (made fun of, for you Obama supporters) and he just smiles and waves at the crowd that is insulting him. You might have even seen him dodge a pair of shoes without missing a beat. At some point, you probably would have come to one of two conclusions, which one is entirely up to you, but either would suffice. Bush is either entirely oblivious to the taunts of his detractors, or he doesn’t much care what they think of him.

Ummm... How did you post that sign in the police state?

Ummm... How did you post that sign in the police state?

Armed with this knowledge, you would have realized that booing and singing “Hey, Hey, Goodbye” would not have its desired effect on the outgoing President, and would have been forced to ask yourself what these actions would then accomplish. Perhaps I am giving you far too much credit here, but I like to think it would have led you to realize what I am about to tell you. The only thing this behavior accomplished was to tarnish the dignity that the inauguration of a new President, whomever it may be, deserves. You see, there is such a thing as respecting an office without respecting the individual holding that office. For example, you may believe the officer who pulls you over to be a complete idiot, but it is probably best to express that thought after he has released you to continue your journey down the wrong side of the Interstate. In like manner, you could have dutifully smiled and grit your teeth as President Bush walked out on to the stage. Or, you could have carried on with your business around you, failing to even recognize his presence. Either activity would be deemed at least marginally acceptable at the occasion you were attending. But if the voices of the liberal commentators at MSNBC saying “Oh, no. Please don’t” didn’t tip you off, your reaction falls into quite a different category.

All this having been said, a valuable lesson can be learned here. We do, after all, know what “they” say. And “they” are not always wrong. For example, when “they” told us to “Be careful what you wish for” they may have had this type of occasion in mind. You see, it might be nice to have a moron like Peggy Joseph thinking that if she votes for you, she won’t have to buy her own gas anymore on election day. But the blissfulness of this ignorance may just cause her to be somewhat less frugal with the gas budget, and she might show up at your inauguration.

The Breakthrough; Judging A Book By Its Cover

The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama

Author: Gwen Ifill

Click The Pic To Buy

Click The Pic To Buy

Yes, folks. That would be Gwen Ifill in no way to be confused with Gwenn Eyefull. It took years of study and research to write this epic look into the literal ones of years that comprise the “Age Of Obama”, but Gwen came through. She spen countless hours rifling through microfilm and old newspaper clipings to gather little known data all the way back to 2004. Despite the fact that this earlier civilization didn’t keep the best records, Gwenn was able to compile some great data.

Gwen takes a close look at how this historic figure has influenced modern politics. From the legislation he didn’t write as a U.S. Senator, to the “present” votes that shaped his home state, she covers it all. She even managed to dig up some information on his early days in a log cabin in… excuse me, I mean an apartment building in Indonesia.

It wasn’t easy for a young black man to be raised by a “typical white person”, but from these humble beginnings grew a young man who would ride a line of empty rhetoric all the way to the white house. Now far removed from those days, Obama now sits as the most powerful man in the world run by “white mans greed”.

Now, perhaps you have listened to Gwen when she said that this book isn’t really about Obama. Well, don’t let the name fool you. It is. And I should know that. After all, I am Steve Parry, and I have judged this book by its cover.

The Dawn Of A New Error

What the cynics fail to understand is that the ground has shifted beneath them — that the stale political arguments that have consumed us for so long no longer apply. The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works — whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified. Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, programs will end. And those of us who manage the public’s dollars will be held to account - to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day — because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government.

Obama Takes The Oath Of Office

Obama Takes The Oath Of Office

And so, we inaugurate Barack Hussein Obama as the nations President. The furrowing down Chris Matthews leg aside, does that speech not scare the living hell out of you? How could one become President with no better understanding of what our Government is than that? It gets scarier, folks. More from the address

This is the journey we continue today. We remain the most prosperous, powerful nation on Earth. Our workers are no less productive than when this crisis began. Our minds are no less inventive, our goods and services no less needed than they were last week or last month or last year. Our capacity remains undiminished. But our timeof standing pat, of protecting narrow interests and putting off unpleasant decisions — that time has surely passed. Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, andbegin again the work of remaking America.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the “remaking” of America? I could go on, but I won’t. Either you get it or you don’t. Chances are, you don’t or this inaguration would have featured a whole different cast of characters. So today, we accept our punishment and prepare for our four year sentence. We share this punishment as Americans, liberal and conservative alike. Liberals for your failure to have half a clue what makes this nation work, and we conservatives for allowing you to stay so ignorant.

Ahead of us lies a Presidency that believes it will be judged your paycheck, your health care, and your retirement plan. In office is a man who believes you are either too stupid to handle these basic daily functions yourself, or just utterly incapable of having any type of a life without his guidance. Yes, America… prepare for your four year sentence.

To the “give the guy a chance” crowd I say this. For him to be given a chance, he must first have a basic fundamental clue as to what he is supposed to be doing. You give him a clue, I’ll give him a chance. Deal?

Hollywood Strikes Again

“So that our next generations memories will not be forgotten”. Huh? In an effort to prove that you can be both stupid and rich, Hollywood’s elite have come together with their Presidential Pledge myspace page. Yes, Barack, your cry in the wilderness has been heard. Hollywood found out that he was feeling a bit lonely, so they dropped what their syringes and bongs and rushed to a video camera to pledge allegiance to the “United Funk of Funkadelica”. Watch it if you dare.

MySpace Celebrity and Katalyst present The Presidential Pledge

Do you have what it takes to “smile more, to laugh more, to love more”? Than you too can make your pledge to Barack Obama and post it as a comment on the myspace page. But make sure it isn’t some silly pledge, people. Make it something that will make a real difference in the world. You can pledge to “never give anyone the finger when your driving again” or to “always find the humor in everything” because this will make Obama less lonely, I guess. Or at least make his job easier.

Nice sweater, Ashton

If you would like more info or the entire list of morons who entered into this stupid pageant, feel free to go to the myspace page. A word of warning, however. You will leave it with an I.Q. 2 points lower than the one you found it with.

Setting The Record Straight

As Obama prepares to take the oath of office tomorrow, I wanted to take a moment to ponder his open obsession with Abraham Lincoln. Many Conservatives have scoffed the notion of their being a similarity between the two, but I find a striking one. What seems to be an obsession almost to the point of disorder may indeed serve as a warning as to what direction Obama intends to take the Nation.

President Abraham Lincoln

President Abraham Lincoln

First, may I start by saying that I am in no way enamored with Abraham Lincoln. History has distorted his legacy beyond recognition. Abraham Lincoln is often credited with freeing the slaves. In our schools, students are taught that he did so by issuing the Emancipation Proclamation. The fact of the matter is, the said document never freed one single solitary slave, nor was it ever Lincoln’s intention to do so. I quote here from the former Presidents first inaugural address given on March 4th, 1881.

I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the States where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so.

Indeed, the Emancipation Proclamation was a typical “Smoke and Mirrors” executive order. It is important to remember that when Lincoln was President, some of the States had exercised their lawful right to succeed from the Union. Those States had formed a new lawful government operating under the Constitution of the Confederate States of America. During this time, these States had their own laws and governing institutions and were under no obligation to abide by the laws of the United States Government. The opening paragraph of the Emancipation Proclamation exposes the major flaw of this Executive Order.

That on the first day of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, all persons held as slaves within any State or designated part of a State, the people whereof shall then be in rebellion against the United States, shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free; and the Executive Government of the United States, including the military and naval authority thereof, will recognize and maintain the freedom of such persons, and will do no act or acts to repress such persons, or any of them, in any efforts they may make for their actual freedom.

We see here that the order only applied to people in a State or a part of a State that was “in rebellion against the United States”. Hence, the law only applied to areas in which it had no jurisdiction. So why then was the order issued? Because this executive order then gave the United States Government the authority to use Military force against the Southern States.  Furthermore, as the Union Army progressed it would free the slaves in the newly conquered area, allowing them to then join and fight with the Army that had just liberated them. In a close and hard fought war, this gave an edge to the Union Army, allowing them to grow their numbers as they advanced.

Indeed, for Abraham Lincoln the Civil War was not a fight for or against slavery. It was a battle for the rights of the Federal Government over the individual States. Although Lincoln is known as the father of the G.O.P., he was indeed a big Government liberal. As he stated, he had no desire nor legal right to end slavery. Yet in slavery, he found his ultimate end to a means to win the war and once and for all kill the most basic right of the individual state… the right to withdraw from its contract with the Federal Government if and when it violated it’s contract with that State.

Today we see the results of this action so commonly around us that we hardly even notice it. Seatbelt and DUI laws are ordered by the Federal Government. While states have the legal right to decline, their choice to do so would result in the loss of all federal highway funds. By the same token, our school textbooks must meet federal guidelines or all school funding will be cut. Many of you may find this information about Lincoln shocking (yet click the links, I have documented it) for this very reason. If it were placed in your school text book, your State may very will be unable to afford to teach it to you anyway.

So where does this leave us? Slavery was a horrible wrong that needed to be stopped. It was wasy for the people of that day to say “by any means neccesary”. Yet there is a right way and a wrong way to go about doing something. What many believed to be a war against the evils of slavery was indeed a war against the rights of the states.

Tomorrow, we will be addressed by the new President of The United States of America Barack Obama. He has openly opposed our war efforts in Iraq, stated that our troops in Afghanistan are just “air raiding villages and killing civilians”, and intends to issue an executive order to shut down the detention center at Guantanamo Bay right out of the gate. While all of this may seem well and good to many war weary Americans, I challenge you to look below the surface at the underlying tendencies of this man.

So is this association with Lincoln so far stretched? Lincoln had an agenda, and ultimately found slavery as an end to a means to acheive this objective. I remind you of what he said before taking office. He had no legal right to end slavery. Why? Because the States ultimately held that right. Yet he left behind a large and more powerful Government that usurped that right and many more for what seemed to be the common good. Be careful what you wish for, America. As Barack Obama obsesses more and more over Lincoln each day, we can only hope that the outcome of his administration is far less damaging to the American people.

Miami Dolphins Dodge The Obama Bullet… Sort Of

As Washington D.C. prepares for the most elaborate and expensive inauguration in history, America’s business owners have begun to duck for cover from the new Presidents open stance on redistribution of wealth. Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga decided to sell the team, and fast, to avoid being punished by Barack Obama’s overbearing tax plans. The trouble (besides the obvious) for Dolphins fans? Bill Parcells contract had a clause that allowed him to answer only to Owner Wayne Huizenga. This meant that Bill had 30 days from the time of the sale to tenure his resignation and walk away from the team leaving him free to work elsewhere without compensating the Dolphins.

Miami Dolphins Owner Wayne Huizenga

Miami Dolphins Owner Wayne Huizenga

According to recent reports, Bill Parcells has decided to stay on after the sale of the team. My initial reaction to this as a Dolphins fan was that we had dodged the bullet. But did we really? Growing up in Connecticut as a New York Yankees fan, I know what it is like to be a fan of a team with an overbearing owner. Huizenga was far from that. Wayne is the type of owner that left the football decisions to the football people.

This style of ownership can have problems all of its own. His hands off approach allowed Dave Wanstedt to degrade the team into a funk it has taken several years for them to escape. Yet two of the games current greatest football minds who couldn’t tolerate the hands on approach of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones have found a home in Miami where the environment created by Huizenga has allowed them to do what they do best… win. Jimmy Johnson walked away of his own accord, and Bill Parcells will now apparently stay on through the switch.

Above being the type of owner a that allows the Generals to run the war, Huizenga is first and foremost a business man. When he owned the Florida Marlins, he promised to put together a championship caliber team in exchange for a new stadium deal. Wayne and his Marlins delivered with a shocking World Series Championship. The stadium never materialized, so he promptly sold the team. It was business first for Wayne, and he couldn’t turn a profit on a winning baseball team in a football stadium, so he chose to sell rather then lose games and or profit.

Last October, Huizenga surprised Dolphin Nation when he sold 50% of the team and the stadium to Stephen Ross, saying at the time of Barack Obama “He wants to double the capital gains tax, or almost double it. I’d rather give it to charity than to him.” The Obama campaign disputed the claim with the following. “Mr. Huizenga is wrong about Senator Obama’s tax plan, which calls for a maximum capital-gains rate of 20 percent — a third lower than the rate that President Reagan set in 1986,”. Isn’t that typical of this administration? They raise the tax rate from 15% to 20%, but sell is as a tax cut from a 1986 rate. This out-of-touch attitude of Obama and company is what has led to this dilemma in the first place.

In the end, Dolphins fans can’t help but feel a bit emotionally confused about this deal. Suffice it to say, it is not as bad as it could have been. They Ross ownership will be judged in time, for better or for worse. As for today, I salute Wayne Huizenga for the efforts he made to field winning football in Dolphins Stadium. I applaud Bill Parcells for the job he has done in turning this franchise around, including bringing Tony Sparano to South Florida. But most of all, I send an extra big (expletive deleted) to Obamanation. Thanks for our conselation prize of getting to keep Bill Parcells. But please, Obama supporter, take a moment of your time to indulge my curiosity in the comment section below. Does it bother you, even just a little bit, that your vote has successfull businessmen running for the hills?

As Opposed To What?

On election night when it became painfully obvious that America had decided to hand the reigns over to a man with little experience and no significant political accomplishments, I decided to flip on Alan Colmes’ radio show and see what the left had to say. I was blown away by what I heard, and the steady cry of the left since has followed suit. Alan, fresh on the heels of victory, was asking what kind of grace period Obama would get. Liberal callers to Conservative shows since then keep saying “Just give the guy a chance”. To which I reply, “As opposed to what?!?!?”

Has it dawned on any of you leftists yet that, without regard to anyone else’s opinion on the topic, he has four years worth of a chance? What difference does it make what Hannity or Limbaugh or some Conservative blogger’s opinion may be? Do I have the option to not give him a chance? If so, I choose to exercise it. On a serious note, I obviously do not have that option. So when leftists demand he be given a chance, what are they really saying?

First, they are asking us not to do what they have done for the last eight years. They are asking the right to get out of the way and allow him unfettered access to his agenda of “change”. Don’t fight. Don’t stand up for what is right. Don’t criticize him when he is wrong. Remember, it is change. Give it a chance.

Secondly, they are admitting the weakness of their Candidate. Do you recall being asked to give Bush a chance? Did anyone suggest that Clinton should receive some type of grace period? Yet it was Hillary who pointed out that the Presidency doesn’t lend itself to on-the-job-training. Now Obama supporters, who denied the charges of his inexperience, are the very ones admitting that their guy will need some time to figure out just what the heck he is doing.

Just give the guy a chance, right? We have no choice. He is here, and there is no alternative for those of us who didn’t fall for the hype. I will not, however, shut up and go away. I will be a voice of criticism every time I feel that it is called for. I will stand up for what is right, and speak my mind. Yes, folks. The hypocrisy has begun, and here comes the commentary.

The Inauguration

The Inauguration

Let’s play devils advocate here for a second and “give the guy a chance”.Remember when he criticized McCain for wanting to “take a chainsaw” to the budget and stated that he would “take a scalpel” to it instead? We see the first example of this new policy with the Inauguration. The $120 million inauguration. No chainsaw on that budget, but rest assured, his scalpel was put to good use. He will save the taxpayers a few bucks by recycling the Bible upon which Abraham Lincoln was sworn in.

Change will also make a debut in Washington D.C. during the ceremony. Remember when we found out via the attacks on talk show host Bill Cunningham that it is not acceptable to use Barack’s middle name? Well, in the true spirit of change, it is okay now. Obama will be sworn in as Barack Hussein Obama. No official word yet from the transition team on when we will receive a list of when it is or is not allowed to use the Messiah’s middle name.

No word yet either on if or when Obama will be prosecuted for his latest criminal offense. First, allow me to point out the fact that it is much more ignorant than criminal. For those Obama supporters who awoke from a political slumber just long enough to cast a completely uneducated vote, I will point out that there is no such thing as “The Office of The President Elect”. There is, however, a law which forbids displaying any printed likeness of the Great Seal of The United States or facsimile thereof which would make Obama’s real seal for his imaginary office a federal offense punishable by fines and 6 months imprisonment.

Yes, like it or not, the inauguration is here, and with it a new President. But it is, of course, high time we had us some change. So we welcome this new President who is anti rich and pro poor. I suppose that’s why his security detail is off kicking the homeless off of their heater vents in preparation for the big event. Hey, wait a second. Something fishy there for sure. Why are the homeless clustering around heat sources what with all this global warming Obama is trying to save us from?

Is that better, my friends on the left? Is that what you meant by “giving the guy a chance”? Or was I supposed to turn my head the other way? Was I supposed to assume that the office of the President Elect is housed in one of the 57 States that I have never been to and overlook the ignorance of having a forged seal for a non existant entity?

Back to reality. Obama has a chance. He has four years to change my mind. With this mans open obsession with Lincoln, one would think that perhaps you libs could remember a little saying that went a little something like “Government of the people, by the people, and for the people”. The intention of our system is not to for the people to give our Government a chance, but rather for our Government to give the people a chance. If Obama does that and runs a government that stays out of our daily lives and allows us to pursue our life, liberty, and happiness, then I will join the adoring throngs. But if he instead does as he says he will, then I will do everything in my power to send him back to his dinner parties with his family friend William Ayers. Is that enough of a chance for you?

In My Absence

I apologize for the long time no post, but I am now officially back. We had, of course, the holiday season to contend with and then I had some business to take care of. I am now setteling in to running my own business again. Here is my new rig. I dubbed her “V2″ (for those of you who remember my last truck Mellow Yellow) for “Mellow Yellow Verse 2″.

Mellow Yellow Verse 2

Mellow Yellow Verse 2

This rig is loaded with new technology and the brand new Detroit Diesel DD15 engine. I wasn’t completely sold on the new Cascadia at first, but after driving it, I have to tip my hat to Freightliner. This truck rides like a dream and is so quiet inside you can barely hear the engine running. I’m loving this truck, but I will try to take some time away from her and get back into the rhythm of blogging.
