The Green Mobile
When speaking via video at Schwarzenegger’s environmental summit, Obama had the following to say about the environmental policies he would lay out as President.
“When I am president, any governor who’s willing to promote clean energy will have a partner in the White House. Any company that’s willing to invest in clean energy will have an ally in Washington. And any nation that’s willing to join the cause of combating climate change will have an ally in the United States of America.”
What he didn’t say was that this new environmental ally would roll to the rescue to the tune of ten miles to the gallon. Making good on his promise to “make a decisive break with George Bush on the environment”, team Obama has placed an order with general motors for the new Presidential limo fleet. Team Obama will be riding in what U.S. News and World Report calls “the most monstrous Presidential limousine yet — and fuel-efficiency clearly isn’t on the mind of its designers”.
This beauty will get a mind numbing ten miles to the gallon. It is built to not only withstand a hail of bullets, but is also reported to be explosion proof. While it is built to look like a Cadillac DTS, it sits on the frame of a 2500 series GMC truck.
While Obama rides around in his Presidential gas guzzler, he has publicly spoken of his plans to have you plugging your car in at night. He wants to put a million plug in hybrid cars on the road by 2015, apparently to make up for his exorbitant lifestyle.
How this “Do as I say, not as I do” style of governing amounts to change is a bit beyond me. Further lost from me is the attitude that Obama and the left somehow own the issue of environmentalism. For example, President Bush actually has quite the little deal going at his house in Crawford Tx. The house boasts 25,000 gallons of rainwater storage, gray water collection from sinks and showers for irrigation, passive solar, and geothermal heating and cooling. The house is also surprisingly small, measuring in at only 4,000 square feet, thus requiring less energy to heat. Adding to the efficiency of the house, the walls are clad in discards of a local stone for thermal mass.
By comparison, Al Gore’s house in a Nashville suburb burned through 22,619 kilowatt-hours in August of 2006. This is twice the amount of electricity used by the average household in a years time. During the time he was making his documentary “An Inconvenient Truth”, the Gore’s average monthly electricity use jumped from 16,200 kWh per month in 2005 to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006. Yet while Obama criticizes Bush for not dealing with the “Global Warming” problem, Al Gore receives the Nobel Prize for his efforts.
So as the first “green” president takes office, the current fleet of Presidential limos traveling at 18 mpg will be replaced with the Obama fleet traveling at an estimated 10 mpg. But don’t expect a flood of articles from the Washington Post about local kids developing asthma due to the excessive pollution of the new President. Instead, we will be blamed for his exhorbitant wastefulness. We will be told how it is our racisim that requires Obama to have a bomb proof car. It will be our weaknesses and shortcomings that cause him to have to waste, so we will be expected to make up for his pollution.

You should know by now that those environmentalists and politicians are all “do as I say, not as I do!” But - of course I know you know that! Saw the new layout and just wanted to say it looks great!
